I wrote this work for Jaren Hinckley, Professor of Clarinet at Brigham Young University, and pianist Vince Humphries, after hearing them perform a work of Jaren's for Eb clarinet and piano. I've always loved Eb clarinet, and was particularly taken with Jaren's beautiful tone and effortless technical mastery on the instrument. Jaren and Vince premiered Adjectives at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest 2011 at Cal State-Northridge.
