"This Holy Christmas Night" is the first of several choral works I’ve written about aspects of Christmas. I wrote it in response to the call for scores from the American Composers Forum/VocalEssence “Welcome Christmas!” Carol Contest, so it needed to work both as a choral work and as a proposed new carol for congregational and home singing. It was a winner in the contest, and was premiered by the VocalEssence Chorus, Philip Brunelle, conductor.

FROM THE PRESS

“Santore … wrote both the words and the music for This Holy Christmas Night, an attractive piece in a more sentimental style that recalled English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, our century’s best arranger of hymns.”
—Review by Russell Platt, St. Paul Pioneer Press
