I was thrilled to get the opportunity to write another piece for my former student James Shuman and his band at Rocky Hill High School in Connecticut. As I began their piece, I came across a list of pangrams -- sentences that contain all 26 letters of the alphabet. I picked three of those pangrams as the inspirations for each of the movements in this fun, programmatic set of character pieces.
